Don Blanchon’s Impact

A few weeks ago, Vistage announced the recipients of its second annual Member  Leadership Awards.   The awards program was created to celebrate the inspiring business and community achievements of Vistage members who best exemplify the organization’s values of Trust, Caring, Challenge and Growth and its six cultural imperatives of Collaboration, Courage, Impact, Innovation, Judgment, and Passion.

In the third installment of our series to celebrate this year’s recipients and finalists, let me introduce Don Blanchon, award winner in the category of Impact.  Don is Chief Executive Director of Whitman-Walker Health in Washington, D.C.  He is responsible for revitalizing the Whitman-Walker Clinic through staff restructuring, financial reform and improved relations with the community and government.  Don transformed an organization on the verge of collapse into a thriving HIV/AIDS treatment facility regarded by the community and media.  Finalists in the Impact category included Laura Archuleta, President of Jamboree Housing Corporation in Irvine, CA and Miki Jordan, President & CEO of Junior Blind of America in Los Angeles, CA.

Don Blanchon’s Vistage Chair, Caroline Nicholl, offers additional insights regarding some of what was behind Don’s impact:

Please join Vistage and the Executive Street community in congratulating Don Blanchon!
