Barry K. Allen, Chairman of the Board

Barry K. Allen is an operating partner at Providence Equity Partners. Allen currently serves on the board of directors of Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE), CDW and the Fiduciary Management, Inc. (FMI) family of mutual funds. He previously served on the board of Harley-Davidson, Inc. (HOG) from 1992-2015 (Chairman 2009-2012). He has also served as a board member for many civic organizations, including the Greater Milwaukee Committee, the Boys and Girls Club of Milwaukee, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the United Way.

Prior to joining Providence Equity Partners in 2007, Allen was executive vice president of operations at Qwest Communications International, and earlier, president of Allen Enterprises, a private equity investment and management company he founded. He started his career in 1974 as president of Chicago-based Ameritech Corp., where he also held a variety of executive appointments, including president and chief executive officer of Wisconsin Bell and president and chief executive officer of Illinois Bell. Before starting at Ameritech, he served in the U.S. Army where he reached the rank of captain.

Allen received a Master of Business Administration, with honors, from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kentucky.

Robert Finocchio

Robert Finocchio has been a Dean’s Executive professor of management at Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business since September 2000. He is currently a director at Broadcom Corporation, Echelon Corporation, JustAnswer.com and Silver-Peak. Prior to joining the board at Vistage, he served on nine public and eight private company boards.

From August 1997 to September 2000, Finocchio served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Informix Corporation, an information management software company. When he arrived at Informix, he faced multiple, complex challenges and was instrumental in the stabilization and return to growth and profitability of the $800 million company.

From 1988 to 1997, Finocchio was employed with 3Com Corporation, where he held various positions, and ultimately was named President, 3Com Systems. Prior to 3Com, he spent nine years at ROLM Corporation. He is chair of the board of trustees at Santa Clara University and also served as a venture partner at Advanced Technology Ventures. He holds a B.S. in Economics from Santa Clara University and an M.B.A. (Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School.

William S. Hughes

William S. Hughes is a managing director at Providence Equity Partners. He is currently a director of Vector Solutions and Vistage. Prior to joining Providence in 2009, he was an associate at Summit Partners, where he focused on growth equity and middle market investments.

Previously, he was special assistant to the CEO at Netdecisions Group and an analyst in Lehman Brothers’ technology investment banking group.

Hughes received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College.

David Phillips

David Phillips is a managing director at Providence Equity Partners. He is currently a director of Blackboard, Vector Solutions and Vistage. Previous board memberships include Archipelago Learning, Ascend Learning, CSDVRS and PADI.

Prior to joining Providence in 2005, he was a Luce Scholar and assistant director of business development at Hutchison Whampoa China. Earlier, he worked at Goldman Sachs in the principal investment area.

Phillips received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University.

Sam Reese

Sam Reese brings over 25 years of experience leading and advising senior leaders in complex organizations. As Chief Executive Officer of Miller Heiman, Inc., he implemented an effective international strategy and redesigned the business model to position the company as a brand leader in executive development. The independent distribution model he and his team built became a model for other companies to follow and contributed greatly to outstanding customer experiences and extremely high retention rates. Reese also previously held senior positions at Corporate Express (now owned by Staples), Kinko’s, Inc. and British Telecom.

In addition to his professional experience, Reese is also a member of the board of RO Innovation and on the Advisory Boards of Envysion and RoundPegg. He is the author of two published books on account management and an experienced keynote speaker. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado and has completed various executive programs at Stanford University and Northwestern University.

Peter O. Wilde

Peter O. Wilde is a managing director at Providence Equity Partners. He leads the firm’s private equity investment activities in the education and information sectors and is a member of the firm’s investment, portfolio review and operating committees. He is currently a director of Blackboard, Galileo Global Education, NACE Schools, Study Group, Vector Solutions and Vistage. Previous boards include Archipelago Learning, Ascend Learning, Asurion, Decision Resources and PADI. He is also on the investment committee for Providence’s growth fund, Providence Strategic Growth.

Prior to joining Providence in 2002, Wilde was a general partner at BCI Partners, where he began his career in private equity in 1992. While at BCI, he was involved in many of their investment activities in media, education and information services companies. Before BCI, he worked at LaSalle Partners in the acquisitions group.

Wilde received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado College.
