Orange County Vistage Chair Richard Carr Receives 2018 Cope Award

Orange County, CA (March 26, 2019) — Vistage Worldwide, the world’s leading business performance and leadership advancement organization for small and midsize businesses, is proud to announce Vistage Chair Richard Carr has received the 2018 Don Cope Memorial Award. The Cope Award was established in 1986 and is named in memory of longtime Chair Don Cope. Each year the Don Cope Award is presented to an individual who has made one of the greatest lasting contributions to the Vistage mission and values. The award symbolizes service, selflessness and commitment.

Richard was a Vistage member for nine years before he went on to serve as a Vistage Chair in 1992. His deep knowledge of Vistage, from the perspective of member and Chair, made him an easy choice to become Vistage’s COO in 1998, and then CEO in 2001, where he oversaw four years of significant organizational growth. He then served as vice chairman to the board and executive VP at Vistage. In 2014, Richard stepped up again to take over two Vistage groups from a retiring Chair, and he is still chairing these groups today. He recently launched two Vistage Inside groups for the leadership teams at Taylor Guitars and Million Dollar Baby.

In all these roles, he has been a remarkable asset for Vistage members. His accomplishments are a big part of why Vistage Worldwide’s community of business leaders is as vast and diverse as it is today. But what’s truly remarkable about Richard has been his unwavering commitment to his fellow Chairs.

Vistage Regional Executive Pete Sciabarra said, “Thank you, Richard, for growing our organization, for your stewardship of the Vistage brand, and for giving so much of yourself to your fellow Chairs and members.”
