Dominique Raccah Receives 2010 Woman of Vision Award
CHICAGO, Illinois August 21, 2010 The Chicago law firm of Arnstein & Lehr LLP presented Vistage member Dominique Raccah, publisher and CEO of Sourcebooks, Inc., with the 2010 Woman of Vision Award at its fourth annual luncheon for women business leaders.
The award, sponsored by Arnstein & Lehrs Diversity Committee, recognizes and honors groundbreaking, inspirational women who have made a difference in Chicago’s business community. More than 150 top female business and professional leaders attended last years Woman of Vision Award Luncheon, which honored Anne Pramaggiore, president and chief operating officer of ComEd. Professionals from across the Chicagoland area are attending this years event to honor Raccah, network with other women, and hear Raccah speak about her success in leading Sourcebooks, Inc., as well as well as offer advice for advancement and success.
The Woman of Vision Award was created with the idea that vision is vital to the success of any business, said Cynde Hirschtick Munzer a partner with Arnstein & Lehr LLP, who will present the award to Dominique Raccah at the luncheon. Vision has played a key role in the success of our law firm throughout our 117 year history.
Dominique was a clear choice for this years award, having built her own publishing house from the ground up, Munzer continued. Dominiques risk taking, fierce determination and independent vision have grown Sourcebooks into the largest woman-owned trade book publisher in America. Dominique has received a variety of impressive honors and awards throughout her career and we are thrilled to honor her as this years Woman of Vision.
In 1987, Raccah launched Sourcebooks from her home in Naperville, Illinois. From that small start, she has directed a continuously growing entrepreneurial company into a general trade house which now produces everything from bestsellers in fiction to number one titles in both baby names and college guides. Sourcebooks has grown and flourished by following its independent vision and stands today as one of the leading independent book publishers in North America. Sourcebooks has published fourteen New York Times Bestsellers and more than twenty national bestsellers.
Raccah is active in the community and serves as co-chair of the board of directors of Book Industry Study Group (BISG), a leading book industry association. She is BISGs first female co-chair, as well as the first co-chair from an independent book publisher. Raccah is also a member of the Independent Book Publishers Association, the Committee of 200, the Century Club (New York), Romance Writers of America, and Vistage CEO. She also serves as a member of the Chicago Network, an organization of diverse female professionals in Chicagoland dedicated to the advancement of women.
