Event Overview

Lead the way together.

You are the pioneers of your time. Innovating. Riding the wave of disruption. Being the disruptors. When you think you’ve found a foothold, things change. And yet — you still lead fearlessly.

You are here, because the best is not enough. You know what you’re capable of, and your peers support you. You are leading the way — together. With an impact that resonates from business, to community, to the world.

Diverse perspectives. Collective wisdom. Shared experience.

Your Vistage Executive Summit is a day to gather with peers who uniquely understand your triumphs and challenges. From cutting-edge speakers, to hot-button breakout sessions. It’s an opportunity to step away from the minutiae of the day-to-day to work on your business, rather than just in it.

Think of it as a synergy of the resources you leverage all year.

Lend your voice to a conversation incomplete without your insights.

Maybe, you’re feeling overwhelmed. Or, you fear being left behind. Though it can feel lonely at the top, know this — you are not in it alone. Roll up your sleeves and gain actionable new ideas to bring back to your team.

Your leadership journey is unique to you. Join your peers on this day, and consider the mountains you’ll move tomorrow.

Event Speakers

Scott Mautz

Founder, Profound Performance

The leadership secret of today’s high-performing organizations

Perks, promotions and pay. These aren’t what motivates today’s workforce (increasingly influenced by Millennials/Gen Z). On the contrary, it’s meaning that motivates employees, and does so on a sustaining basis. Research shows, meaning-rich organizations get results like no other. This presentation from Scott Mautz will explore “The Markers of Meaning,” specific conditions you can foster to create meaning in and at work to feed learning and personal growth, inspire self-esteem, grant autonomy, and craft an environment of authenticity. Leave with practical tools you can put in practice immediately.

Breakout sessions

8:30 - 9:30 AM

Morning Breakout Session | Business succession planning

Presenter: Gabriel Hamilton, Partner & Claire Rosston, Associate, Holland & Hart LLP

  • Start the way you mean to finish. Planning for succession begins with establishing your entity, making initial tax decisions, and keeping clear records of ownership and other organizational matters.
  • Success for the third generation. Most family businesses fail to manage the transition from the second to the third generation of family owners. The ones that succeed tend to adopt certain strategies and legal structures to manage the generational change. The same strategies and structures can be used in all businesses transitioning to new management and ownership.
  • The exit event. The most common succession strategy is a sale of the business to a new owner. The terms of this deal will be heavily negotiated, and a seller should be prepared.

8:30 - 9:30 AM

Morning Breakout Session | Fraud prevention and cybersecurity

Presenter: Troy Wunderlich, Vice President, Director of Risk Management, Washington Trust Bank and Brian Kinsley, Vice President, Director of Information Security, Washington Trust Bank

Protect the integrity of your networks, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. All it takes is one person in your organization to click on a link, and your files, email or other sensitive information could be compromised. We’ll teach you:

  • The most common types of fraud scams
  • The building blocks of a strong cybersecurity program
  • To defend against cybercriminals/fraudsters so that you can protect yourself, your clients and your organization

Afternoon Breakout Session | Uncommon success: Wealth strategies for closely held businesses

Presenter: Kevin Bates, Financial Advisor, UBS

What if there were ways to take money that might otherwise go to taxes and instead direct it back to growing your business or impact your personal net worth? Developing a post-exit roadmap can be instrumental in uncovering pre-exit opportunities. Collaborate with a Certified Exit Planning Advisor in an interactive planning session as we take a hands on approach to working through business scenarios & transactions to help you map out your wealth strategy and gain greater insight into:

  • Building the right team: Organizational strength is the key-- do you have the right people, with the right experience to serve the company’s visionary, strategic and execution needs?
  • Deciding whether to grow or exit: an exploration of ways to make more confident, informed financial planning decisions and directly impact business profit, cash flow, and enterprise value
  • Identifying areas of opportunity to build transferrable value-- understanding and evaluating exit scenarios including third party sale, ESOP, inter-generational transfer, or alternative transitions that could bring a higher valuation
