Consider the following example of how collectively re-imagining pieces of manufacturing, marketing and communication strategies yielded 10x revenue growth and cost reduction.
Last April Tesla pre-sold 373,000 Tesla Model 3’s receiving $373M from implied future sales. Even with a 30% drop off rate, the implied future sales were valued over $9B. Using that valuation they obtained $3B in debt financing and produced a validated manufacturing scaling strategy - all from integrating a prototype with smart branding and the use of multi-platform media to generate hype for the Model 3 without advertisements or “paid” endorsements.
The lesson we learn from this disruptive example is that by collectively re-imagining pieces of cross functional strategies we can now scale up manufacturing for a new product line offering with 10x greater certainty about delivery schedules, reduce the initial capitalization of product development by 10x, virtually eliminate the costs associated with launch lost opportunities or oversupply, size a market 10x more accurately and at 10x less cost, and 10x leverage an existing brand.
