John Paul DeJoria on the role of the CEO in the future

As co-founder of Paul Mitchell Systems and Patron Tequila, John Paul DeJoria knows better than anyone how the role of the CEO in the future is changing. DeJoria discussed his views on the role of the new CEO with me in this week’s video interview.

“In the past, management styles were top down in a dictatorial manner – you know, ‘do as I tell you or else!’ Now CEOs are leading from the front lines making everyone part of the process. They are more interested in enabling and empower their employees to do their best for the whole enterprise,” DeJoria explained.

And how is this likely to change in the future? According to DeJoria “In the future CEOs are becoming more involved in the entire product life of their organization and how it affects not only consumers, but the environment, and how the organization can be a vehicle to do good in society, not just make products at the lowest cost.”
