Vistage All City: The Power of Networking and Staying "Ahead of the Curve"

With over 400 attendees at the Vistage All City event in LA on Tuesday, the atmosphere was energetic.

“One word to describe the event would be ‘energy’. There is a good connection between the groups and members. The topics are more relevant to my position than with other events I’ve been at; they’re more relevant to my day-to-day activities,” explains Eric powers, President of Healthcare Finance Direct LLC.

Vistage All City: The Power of Networking and Staying "Ahead of the Curve"The event commenced with breakfast followed by the general session with keynote speaker, Alan Beaulieu.

As one of the country’s most informed economists, Alan Beaulieu is a Principal of the Institute for Trend Research where he serves as President. Since 1990, he has been consulting with companies throughout the US, Europe, and Japan on how to forecast, plan, and increase their profits based on business cycle trend analysis. Alan is also the Senior Economic Advisor to NAW and the Chief Economist for HARDI.

His expertise on helping businesses stay “ahead of the curve” by providing tips and techniques for economic forecasting, gave many takeaways for attendees.

Vistage All City: The Power of Networking and Staying "Ahead of the Curve"“The keynote speaker was fascinating. His presentation was a little terrifying, even if you’re anticipating failures. But, it’s better to be prepared. I will use his information as motivation,” says Robyn Crowther, Shareholder of Caldwell Leslie & Proctor, PC.

“The [keynote] speaker was informative in talking about today and forward and the different markets to watch. It was interesting that entertainment and 3-D printing were on those market lists,” shares Mardu Lydick, Vice President of Sales for Marathon Services, Inc.

Throughout Alan’s 3-hour presentation, he touched on points that would display the economic and financial ramification over the next 5-10 years.

“You need stable/leading indicators to forecast trends for your company. You’ll see that business isn’t out of your control,” Alan Beaulieu pointed out.

With 2012’s forecasting results, 2013 and 2014’s economic standings could be predicted more easily.

It reinforced my feelings of what strategies could affect our company. There were things on his list that were on mine. He was engaging, and you were listening to every word he was saying; it was exciting,” stated Lydick.

Over the course of Alan’s presentation, he spoke about:

  • Unemployment, international business, and oil dependence effects on the US economy
  • How loan rates are going to be affected by the changes over the next few years
  • Global leading indicators and their effect on the US economy
  • Industrial production throughout different industries of the world
  • Stock prices and health care cost projections and their impact on small business
  • New construction across many sectors and its effects on business

Vistage All City: The Power of Networking and Staying "Ahead of the Curve"His presentation provided comradery within the groups. It allowed attendees to connect through the power of networking, giving the event’s broad range of business people the value of Vistage.

I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many people. Everyone is really friendly and easy to talk to about their businesses,” Lydick exclaims.

The event brought business people together for a common reason: to innovate, grow, and expand their businesses in many different ways.

We hope that you enjoyed the 2013 Vistage All City event in LA. We have more exciting Vistage events in 2013 with expert speakers and chances to expand your business network and grow your knowledge.
