Small Business Week Spotlight: Chris Vendilli
In honor of National Small Business Week, we are celebrating Vistage members who started small, dreamed big, and got results. Throughout the week, they will be sharing their stories on how they drive growth for their business, how they take risks, and what their visions are for the future.
In 2007, Chris launched ProFromGo.com as a resource for other online marketing professionals, webmasters and site owners. After creating and marketing many membership websites and informational products, Chris groomed his Internet marketing firm into a full-service social media, web design and search optimization company. ProFromGo.com has since attracted thousands of paying customers, followers, website members and subscribers. Today Chris is a thought leader in web development and Internet marketing issues.
My 3 to drive my business forward
- We’re constantly looking for ways to optimize our project delivery processes in an effort to speed up or eliminate routine or less than impactful tasks in our process maps while still remaining competitively priced with a strong overall focus on providing value.
- Employees are encouraged to problem solve as autonomously as possible but being a very small business sometimes an issue must be escalated (and sometimes it doesn’t need to be escalated) but gets escalated anyway by the nature of our small open office environment.
- When an issue is escalated, I do expect some accompanying solutions to address the issue that give me an indication that some thought was put into the problem prior to escalation.
My leap of faith
In the past 18-24 months we spent significant time obtaining some industry certifications. I was, however, unsure how much impact if any they’d have on the bottom line. Fast forward to today, we’re a slightly different company with deeper experience and wider capabilities thanks to this gamble so needless to say I think part of our culture will be to seek out lifelong learners who are always on the lookout for something new and innovative to try.
My vision for the future
We’re currently going through a process to obtain “VOSB” (Veteran Owned Small Business) status in order to pursue work in the federal space, where I suspect we’ll be primarily targeting the various VA Healthcare Systems throughout the country. I’ve found that most companies that play in the government contracting arena start out that way and the vast majority of their business is there. I’m happy that we have our commercial roots in place and will be adding a new mix of projects into our portfolio once we get some traction in this new endeavor.
