“Consistent with our mission of increasing the effectiveness and enhancing the lives of our members, Vistage entered into a strategic alliance with The Stanford Graduate School of Business to create a customized yearlong program on leadership and innovation for our members. Chairs can nominate candidates for the program who are life-long learners and committed to taking their leadership skills and their business to a whole new level.”
“In our view, this is an incredible opportunity for growth and development for those lucky enough to be selected. We can’t wait to get started.”

VISTAGE CHAIR SINCE 1998
How it Works
We’re combining the best of Stanford’s online curriculum and Vistage’s group experience. This hybrid model program is comprised of self-paced instruction of web-delivered course material complemented by 10 in-person half-day group meetings Chaired by local Vistage Chairs. The course material consists of professor video lecture segments, live events, slides, reading material, exercises to complete, group-wide discussions and direct faculty feedback. It is estimated a participant will need to spend 5 hours per week to absorb the material and complete projects. Additional weeks are inserted throughout the three courses to allow participants to catch-up on projects.

THE ROBERT A. AND ELIZABETH R. JEFFE PROFESSOR AND PROFESSOR OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
Why are some companies more competitive than others? To be successful, a manager must be able to diagnose the reasons behind successes and failures, and to be able to effectively improve performance in the future. This course helps managers learn to think strategically: how to identify opportunities and challenges, how to develop a viable course of action, how to formulate a strategy, and how to execute strategy so that their employees are guided and motivated to achieve success. Our goal in this course is to hone your strategic thinking skills so that this thought process becomes second nature.

THE INNOVATION PLAYBOOK
The Innovation Playbook course is designed to give leaders the tools to highlight their own signature stories in a way that can provide value to their companies and in people’s lives.
You’ll leave with the ability to curate, craft, and tell stories effectively — and to harness story to drive growth.
THE MORGRIDGE PROFESSOR OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR SENIOR ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
DESIGNING ORGANIZATIONS FOR CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
The Designing Organizations for Creativity and Innovation course focuses on a framework for thinking about the organizational ecosystem, and how we can use a human-centered design process to effectively diagnose the causes of very common organizational problems (e.g., lack of coordination and trust between units, shortage of time for creative thinking, and loss of top talent). In this course, we will study the interplay among formal structure, routines, informal networks and culture in shaping organizational performance, change, innovation, and employment engagement.
What topics will be covered?
The program includes three courses focused on innovation: (1) Strategic Leadership by Professor William Barnett and Professor Jesper Sorensen – understand the fundamentals of a successful corporate strategy and create one for your company (2) The Innovation Playbook by Professor Jennifer Aaker – learn the power of the story and write your leadership story, your user story, your company story, and your innovation story, and (3) Designing Organizations for Creativity and Innovation by Professor Sarah Soule – learn how to design your organization and culture to foster innovation and collaboration.
What do members get for completing the program?
Members who complete the program will receive a Stanford certificate of completion signed by the Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Business and Sam Reese, Vistage CEO. On-campus graduation and capstone day of learning are planned as an annual event in Palo Alto, California.
How will this impact my Vistage group?
The program is a complement to your Vistage group. All in-market Chairs will receive summaries monthly.
