Vistage Member Mark Davitt Wins Rochester Small Business Council Business Person of the Year Award

SAN DIEGO, CA, OCTOBER 25, 2013—Mark Davitt, president and CEO of ConServe, was awarded the Business Person of the Year Award on October 9, 2013 by the Rochester Small Business Council.

The Small Business Council Business Person of the Year Award is one of the highest honors given to a business leader in the Rochester Region. For many past winners, this recognition has vaulted their companies to new levels of success, delivering increased local market awareness and further establishing them as leaders in their field.

The award is presented in two categories: leaders of businesses with fewer than 50 employees and leaders of businesses with 50 or more employees. Nominees are judged by revenue growth, community service, leadership initiatives, and special achievements and recognition.

Davitt’s award was presented during the Small Business Council’s Business Person of the Year Gala, held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The event attracted around 800 people representing about 80 local companies.

In accepting the award, Davitt thanked his wife, his Vistage group, and his team at ConServe: “It’s a team of the right people, doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right way. It’s all about the people.”

Davitt is the president and CEO of ConServe, based in Perinton, NY. It was founded in 1985 and has 541 employees. The company is a collection agency dealing with outstanding college student loans, specializing in helping borrowers in default meet their repayment obligations. It was ranked as the #1 performing collection agency on the U.S. Department of Education’s student loan collection contract from 2004-2010. ConServe has been recognized by Inc. Magazine as a ‘Hire Power’ award winner and was voted by its employees as a best place to work in collections.

Notably, last year’s Business Person of the Year award winner in the 50 or more employees category was Ray Isaac, president of Isaac Heating and Air Conditioning Inc., who is also a Vistage member.

The Rochester Small Business Council provides services, support and business-to-business opportunities to growth-oriented small business owners throughout the greater Rochester metropolitan area. It stages events throughout the year, including the Business Person of the Year Gala, Executive Development Roundtable and Albany Small Business Lobbying Day.
