Become a part of the inaugural program

How it Works
We’re combining the best of Stanford’s online curriculum and Vistage’s group experience. This hybrid model pilot program is comprised of self-paced instruction of web-delivered course material complemented by 10 in-person half-day group meetings Chaired by two San Diego Vistage Chairs, Mike Richardson and Richard Carr. The course material consists of professor video lecture segments, live events, slides, reading material, exercises to complete, group-wide discussions, direct faculty feedback, and a final test for each course segment. It is estimated a participant will need to spend 3 to 4 hours per week to absorb the material, do the exercises required to be submitted for feedback, and take/pass the final test for each course.

Market-based Cohorts
The hybrid learning model offers the in-person Vistage experience in target cities (Chicago, Denver, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco). The Vistage experience is also offered in a virtual group format for members unable to commit to the in-person format.

Benefits
Learn and apply concepts around innovation through the power of the Vistage experience. You will earn a Stanford Certificate of Completion (no college credit) and be invited to our annual Vistage graduation day on the business school campus in Palo Alto, California (Fall 2018).

Timeline
The application deadline is August 18, 2017. The program runs from September 2017 through July 2018.

Cost
The program cost is discounted to $15,000 for Vistage members.

DESIGNING ORGANIZATIONS FOR CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
The Designing Organizations for Creativity and Innovation course focuses on a framework for thinking about the organizational ecosystem, and how we can use a human-centered design process to effectively diagnose the causes of very common organizational problems (e.g., lack of coordination and trust between units, shortage of time for creative thinking, and loss of top talent). In this course, we will study the interplay among formal structure, routines, informal networks and culture in shaping organizational performance, change, innovation, and employment engagement.

What topics will be covered?
The inaugural program will include three courses focused on innovation: (1) Strategic Leadership by Professor William Barnett and Professor Jesper Sørensen, (2) The Innovation Playbook by Professor Jennifer Aaker, and (3) Designing Organizations for Creativity and Innovation by Professor Sarah Soule

What do members get for completing the program?
Members who complete the program will receive a Stanford Certificate of Completion cobranded with Vistage Worldwide, signed by the Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Business and Sam Reese, Vistage CEO. On-campus graduation and capstone day of learning are planned for Fall 2018

How will this impact my Vistage group?
The program is a complement to your Vistage group. All in-market Chairs will receive summaries monthly.

Is this a one-time program or will it be repeated?
The first program launched February 2017 with a total of 80 participants. We will launch the next cohort in September 2017 followed by the third cohort tentatively scheduled for February 2018. Additional cohorts and markets will continue to be added.

How do I nominate a member?
Chairs can simply nominate a member by filling out the nomination form on the website. Members will then receive an email invitation to fill out the application form online.
