A PROGRAM TAILORED FOR OUR VISTAGE SAN DIEGO MEMBERS

Mike Richardson

SAN DIEGO FACILITATOR +
VISTAGE CHAIR SINCE 2003

“I am delighted to be at forefront of this new program combining two world-class learning organizations, Stanford Graduate School of Business and Vistage, on the most critical topic facing our members, Innovation. It was the core challenge I faced running the Aerospace Division of a British Public Company and is at the core of my thought-leadership on Enterprise Agility for an increasingly disruptive world. Agile Innovation is essential to surviving and thriving and I look forward to exploring that more through this program.”

“I look forward to facilitating this great learning partnership between Stanford Graduate School of Business and Vistage. Many years ago I had a life changing experience as an MBA student combining University content with a Vistage experience. Bringing Vistage and Stanford together will be an extraordinary leadership learning experience. I am excited to be part of this!”

How it Works
We’re combining the best of Stanford‘s online curriculum and Vistage’s group experience. This hybrid model enables you to learn when you want, where you want at a self-guided pace of 3-5 hours per week. At that rate, each course is paced at about 12 weeks and the entire program lasts under a year. Your Stanford group of approximately 15 will meet for about half a day each month as a check-in to reinforce the concepts and applications to your company.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP
Why are some companies more competitive than others? To be successful, a manager must be able to diagnose the reasons behind successes and failures, and to be able to effectively improve performance in the future. This course helps managers learn to think strategically: how to identify opportunities and challenges, how to develop a viable course of action, how to formulate a strategy, and how to execute strategy so that their employees are guided and motivated to achieve success. Our goal in this course is to hone your strategic thinking skills so that this thought process becomes second nature.

DESIGNING ORGANIZATIONS FOR CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
The Designing Organizations for Creativity and Innovation course focuses on a framework for thinking about the organizational ecosystem, and how we can use a human-centered design process to effectively diagnose the causes of very common organizational problems (e.g., lack of coordination and trust between units, shortage of time for creative thinking, and loss of top talent). In this course, we will study the interplay among formal structure, routines, informal networks and culture in shaping organizational performance, change, innovation, and employment engagement.
