Jeff Babcock
My business experience
I have more than 43 years' business experience, beginning with an undergraduate degree in metallurgical engineering and an MBA. This was followed by more than 16 years of manufacturing, sales and marketing experience in the basic metals industry.
My Vistage experience
I have served as a Chair with Vistage since 1982.
In 1992, I received the Donald Cope Memorial Award, one of the highest honors bestowed on Chairs in the Vistage community.
My Vistage groups
I am a Chair with two Vistage groups. One group is essentially composed of chief executives of family-owned businesses, while the other group has a healthy blend of members with private equity and "deal" experience.
The highest purpose of a Vistage group is to prepare CEOs and owners for the most important transition of their business lives—the change to whatever comes after the company.
Who is the "ideal" Vistage member?
The ideal Vistage member is an experienced top executive who recognizes that he or she doesn't have all the answers, and who actively seeks the company of successful peers—both to give and receive insights and ideas. This person wants to plumb the depths of some 350 years of chief executive experience that comes together in our monthly meetings, and who is eager to offer their own experience and insights in the process.
As a group, we spend our time exploring topics members can't discuss anywhere else. These members have many other places where they can engage in idle, "cocktail party" chatter. Our mission is to provide the setting for discussing the "undiscussable."
