Our Chair community is as diverse as the business leaders they serve. Vistage Chairs are former Senior executives come from a variety industries, from manufacturing to professional services, yet they have a common passion for business, the desire to help others. Chair Recognition
Vistage strives to acknowledge and reward high-performing Chairs who make a significant impact on our members, the Chair community and Vistage. Chairs can also hold various roles within our community such as In-Market Mentor, Best Practice Chair, and Chair Advisory Board member.
The annual recognition of Chairs’ contributions is an integral part of our culture. We strive to acknowledge and reward high-performing Chairs who have made a significant impact on our members, the Chair community and Vistage. Many of these awards are named for Vistage founders or for Chairs who have left an indelible legacy. Below is a list briefly summarizing the award program:
- Cope Award: Acknowledges one Chair annually with at least 10 years of service, who has contributed in exemplary fashion during his/her tenure
- Nourse Chair of the Year Award: Presented annually to a Chair who embodies the attributes and values of Vistage in performance, engagement and service
- Hyndman Award: Given in honor of unselfish and immeasurable service usually involving actions that go far beyond the normal responsibilities of a Chair
- STAR Award: Recognizes Chairs who sustain top achievement throughout the year
- Rookie of the Year Award: Presented to the Chair(s) who are best at building their practice and delivering value in their first year
- Master Chair: Awarded each calendar year to tenured Chairs who establish and maintain exemplary performance standards
- Chair Excellence: Awarded annually to Chairs who provide exceptional value based on member participation and retention
Beyond receiving recognition through awards, Chairs who demonstrate exemplary performance have an opportunity to deepen their engagement with the Vistage community by taking on additional roles.
Best Practice Chairs, our “Chair of Chairs,” act as coach and mentor to other Chairs in their region. Chairs may also become In Market Mentors, fostering the onboarding process of new Chairs in the community. Finally, Chairs may be invited to participate on the Chair Advisory Board, where they have an opportunity to provide feedback and bring fresh ideas to our Chairman of the Board and the Vistage leadership team.
Upon completing their journey of active service with Vistage, Chairs may be invited to participate in the Chair Alumni program. A small handful of exemplary Alumni Chairs are nominated to the status of Chair Emeritus, a role that allows them to continue to actively participate within the Vistage circle.
